I grew up in the suburbs of Cleveland, Ohio, pretending to be LeBron hitting the game-winning shot in my driveway as my great-grandmother called me in for arti, a daily Hindu prayer. I graduated from The Ohio State University with a BFA and the Fergus Art Scholarship. After graduating, I spent six months living in the gullies of Ahmedabad, in the same neighborhood where my mother and great-grandmother — who raised me — grew up. During that time I worked on a documentary photography series, learning about the culture and traditions that shaped my family. Those experiences now shape my studio practice.

I currently live and work in Brooklyn, New York.

As a first-generation Indian American, I've often found myself between two worlds: my heritage and family on one side, my friends and daily life on the other. My work exists in that grey area, reflecting on where those experiences clash and where they overlap, trying to show the tension and the tenderness of growing up in both.

I photograph the space between Gujarat and Cleveland, searching for what survived, what adapted, and what changed in the crossing. In painting, I follow a similar instinct: I begin with a premeditated idea, then let the work change and grow with the memories that guide my brush.
